Grok Bot setup is on the skills page. These clients share that account. Each one should have its own agent tag and its own recall scope.

Get an API key from the dashboard. The passphrase is separate from the key, and it stays on the machine that encrypts.

Claude Code

Point the MCP proxy at your key and passphrase. The proxy encrypts on the machine where Claude Code is running.

Cursor

Install the Retayn extension from the Cursor marketplace. It stores the API key and passphrase in the editor’s secret storage and tags memories from that window. If the listing is not available yet, use the same MCP shape as Claude Code.

Codex

Codex can attach the hosted MCP endpoint. The passphrase still has to live with a client that encrypts. The HTTP endpoint alone authenticates; it does not decrypt.

OpenClaw

Install the plugin, then put the key and passphrase in the OpenClaw config. The default tag is openclaw. Untagged memories already in the store count as that tag.

Restart OpenClaw after saving. recallAgents accepts "self", "all", or a list of tags. Details are on the recall scope page. They apply to every client, not only Grok Bot.

Check that it worked

  1. Store a sentence that includes a unique string, such as a fingerprint or an error code.
  2. Start a new session, or let the current one compact.
  3. Ask for that exact string. The client should return it from Retayn, not from the summary.
